July and August are the peak, with daytime temperatures frequently in the mid-thirties and above; UK and European package-holiday demand pushes hotel and flight prices to their highest of the year in these two months.
May, June and September into October are the shoulder seasons and generally the best time to visit: warm, dry and considerably more comfortable than midsummer, with prices well below the July-August peak. December to March is Cyprus's mildest off-season in the Mediterranean, daytime temperatures often still reach the high teens, which makes it a genuine, if cooler, winter-sun option even though the sea is too cold to swim for most visitors.
